Flood claims seven lives in Kwara

 


At least seven persons have lost their lives to flood disasters in different parts of Kwara State in 2022.

Managing Director, Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission, HYPPADEC, Abubakar Yelwa, disclosed this on Sunday in Patigi, Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.

He identified riverine communities in Patigi as the worst hit by the disaster.

According to Abubakar, 1,300 households and 2,800 persons were affected in the flood disaster.

He further revealed that large hectares of farmlands and houses were also submerged in Patigi.

The commission was in the area to assist the victims with relief materials.

  Flood victims in Lokoja, who are living in the Internally Displaced Camps, are currently witnessing the most devastating moments in their lives as they now feed from hand to mouth, while relief materials meant for them have been allegedly diverted. In this report, DAILY POST takes a look at the activities happening in Adankolo and Gadumo IDPs camp, challenges of the flood victims and allegations against some individuals who are supposed to bring smiles to their faces.
