Image
The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, is set to stage a ceremony in an ornate Kremlin hall to announce Russia’s rule over around 15% of Ukraine, the biggest European annexation since World War II. However, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s President, has hit out at the move, saying that Putin wanted a war more than life. UN chief Antonio Guterres also called it a dangerous escalation and a violation of the United Nations charter. It comes as Ukrainian forces partially surround a strategic city in eastern Ukraine. Meanwhile, a Russian rocket attack killed at least 25 in Zaporizhzhia, while another 50 were wounded.

North made political mistake in 2015 – Coalition

Image
The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG), has lamented that northern Nigeria has been neglected and isolated politically, economically and socially since the advent of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration in 2015. Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, the spokesperson of the group, while speaking in Kaduna on Thursday at a sensitization and awareness conference organised by the Kaduna State chapter of the Coalition, noted that the region had been abandoned to a critical security situation with its women widowed, children orphaned, youths maimed and killed and people displaced in thousands. He regretted that the once potent and progressive North is currently begging not only for food, but for a place in the nation’s future social and political arrangement. He added that the bulk of the northerners were left jobless, homeless, helpless and hopeless, saying that the politicians and leaders they elected had prospered with nothing to celebrate for the struggling families all across the region.

PDP crisis: Shock, disbelief as fraud allegations unsettle Ayu, Atiku

Image
Amidst weighty allegations of corruption hovering around his office, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Iyorchia Ayu is expected back to Nigeria today, Friday. However, unlike when he departed the country to Europe with fanfare, that may not be said of his return trip as he is coming back to face a court of public opinion, with his colleagues in the National Working Committee, NWC, of the PDP making shocking revelations. However, not many took Wike’s allegations seriously, considering his long drawn war with the chairman ever since the party conducted its presidential primary election, which Wike lost to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Wike, answering questions from journalists, alleged that Ayu received N1 billion from one of the presidential hopefuls in the party. He went further to say that Ayu is corrupt, and th
