The Nigerian Army has said it is ready to tackle kidnapping, militancy, oil bunkering, and other forms of criminalities in Cross River State and surrounding environs.

Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Dorcas Oluwatope Aluko, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday morning.

It said the Headquarters of 13 Brigade is scheduled to hold a ‘Field Training Exercise.’

She said, “The Exercise is aimed at decisively tackling various criminal activities such as oil bunkering, militancy and kidnapping amongst others, in various parts of Cross River State.”

According to the statement, the exercise would feature troops of 13 Brigade Nigerian Army and personnel from other sister security agencies in the state.

She said it is pertinent to mention that the exercise would also witness the movement of large numbers of troops, military armaments, and other heavy equipment throughout its duration.

“In view of the foregoing, members of the general public are please requested to go about their lawful duties without any fears.

“The Commander 13 Brigade duly reassures the general public that the Brigade remains committed to achieving lasting peace and security in the state,” she said.

The statement said the exercise is codenamed ‘Still Water II’ and will run from 5 October to 23 December 2022.
