  The Zamfara State Governor, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle has received a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential campaign council, Dr. Hamza Abubakar Haruna to the All Progressives Congress, APC, fold. This was contained in a press statement signed and issued to newsmen in Gusau, the State capital by the press secretary to Governor Matawalle, Comrade Jamilu Magaji. Ogun So-Safe arrests bricklayer for attacking Okada rider, hijacking bike

  The Ogun State-owned Social Orientation and Safety (So-Safe) Corps has arrested a 29-year-old bricklayer, Shakiru Bello, for allegedly attacking a commercial motorcyclist and carting away his bike. Bello, who was said to have disguised as a passenger, was arrested on Friday following a complaint by the victim simply identified as Abel. The suspect had hired Abel to transport him on bike to Agobaba, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun. According to a statement by the So-Safe Corps spokesperson, Moruf Yusuf, the robbery suspect, who resides at Penpe in Owode Yewa, had confessed to the crime. During preliminary investigation, the bricklayer had confessed that “he stopped the motorcyclist to take him as a passenger to Agobaba Area, and the motive was to snatch the bike from him.” According to Yusuf, the suspect explained how he directed the bike man to take him towards a new site, at a house being built by his friend. “On getting there, he picked a shovel kept by the side of the bui

  The Edo State Police Command says it has arrested three suspected armed robbers and members of the dreaded cult group, Eiye in Benin City, the State capital. The development was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officers of the command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, on Monday According to him, “the three dare devil armed robbers and members of Eiye Secret Cult Confraternity were on Sunday arrested by the Operatives of Anti-Robbery Team of Ugbekun Divisional Police Headquarters, Benin.” He said the police stormed a certain Hotel along Enomayo, Off Upper Sakponba Road, Benin and arrested one Bright Omonowa Clifford Patrick, and Isaac Peter and recovered one cut-to-size locally-made gun and one Black Beret of Eiye Secret Cult Confraternity. He said the arrest was following a credible intelligence on the suspects’ clandestine meeting in the hotel. 13 percent derivation: Wike’s revelation stirs controversy in Niger Delta States

  The dust raised by Governor Nyesom Wike’s revelation on the payment of 13% derivation fund arrears by the federal government to Niger Delta States is yet to settle. Governor Wike of Rivers State had over a week ago, during a project commissioning, revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari had paid the arrears of 13% derivation fund owed since 1999 to all the Niger Delta States. The revelation, which some perceived as politically motivated, had generated a lot of reactions from members of the public across the Niger Delta States, including Akwa Ibom. Some benefiting States, such as Delta, Edo and Bayelsa immediately came out to explain the amount gotten from FG and how it was expended. Delta State claimed that it had only received the sum of N14.7 billion as refund from the 13 percent oil derivation in three quarterly instalments of N4.9 billion each.   No fewer than four men died on Thursday when a Toyota Sienna bus rammed into a moving Sino truck loaded with bags of cement The road crash, DAILY POST learnt, occurred around 7pm along the Abeokuta-Siun-Sagamu Road, Ogun State. Confirming the incident on Friday, the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement (TRACE) Corps said the accident occurred at Adedero in front of Adaranijo Filling Station, along the highway.   A  High Court of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, has discharged and aqcuitted a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal from the N544M contract fraud offences brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The Court on Friday held that the anti-graft agency failed woefully to establish prima facie case against the Ex-SGF. In a ruling on no case submission made by Babachir Lawal, Justice Charles Agbaza held that EFCC said that no ingredients of any offence was made out by the 11 witnesses that testified for the EFCC. The Judge held that EFCC did not establish that Babachir Lawal was either a member of the Presidential Initiative for North East PINE that awarded the contract or a member of the Ministerial Tenders Board that vetted and gave approval to the disputed contract.
