The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on its spokespersons across Nigeria to counter falsehoods, tackle the weaponisation of ethnicity and religion, and defend the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration as the 2027 elections approach.
Speaking at a media capacity-building seminar for APC Zonal and State Publicity Secretaries in Abuja, APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, and Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake, addressed the challenges of political propaganda and the importance of narrative control.
Basiru’s Message:
“We’re witnessing dangerous misuse of social media — with fake images from war-torn countries used to discredit Nigeria. We must correct these narratives and resist the weaponisation of ethnicity and religion for political gains.”
He praised Tinubu’s economic reforms, including:
✅ Removal of the fuel subsidy
✅ Exchange rate unification
✅ Boosted oil production (now at 1.7 million barrels/day)
✅ Strengthening of the Naira
Basiru also noted that global financial institutions now commend Nigeria’s reforms — a signal, he said, that Tinubu’s government is attracting real investment and rebuilding the economy.
๐ ️ Minister Dele Alake reinforced the gains of the reforms:
“The President courageously ended the corrupt fuel subsidy system and merged the dual exchange rates. These were bold steps past governments couldn’t take.”
He stated that:
-
States now receive more federal allocations
-
Many have cleared debts
-
Major infrastructure projects are ongoing
-
Economic stability at the macro level will eventually reduce inflation and food prices
Alake explained:
“Once the economy is stable, jobs and production will rise. That’s when the micro effects — like lower prices — will follow.”
Key Takeaway:
The APC is mobilizing its media arms to reframe the narrative, push back against disinformation, and showcase economic progress under Tinubu’s leadership.
